We left Camping la butte with good memories and a final look at the mark we had left on them...
We decided to try and outrun the storm so we headed over the mountains to Basel in Switzerland. Some very precarious hairpin bends later had us heading towards the Swiss border. We managed to pass unintentionally into Germany for around 5 minutes in the process.
As it was still scorching hot, we looked for a mall with AC so we could grab some lunch in the cool and decide what to do next.
The mall was quiet...
We had always planned to have hotel stays along the way to get proper washes and big beds etc. Unfortunately Switzerland is just ridiculously expensive so we ended up driving back over the German border to a small town with an apartment available for the night.
Nice place
We walked into the old town for tea. Very authentic, in fact there was no English anywhere so we had to ask the chef for help as he spoke some.
Food was delicious, but American portions!
Back to our rooms for a well deserved rest.
Off to Interlaken tomorrow.
