So we left our really not very nice campsite and set off for Salzburg.
We are getting good at the practical aspects of running the RV, gas off, boiler off, boiler cover on, electricity disconnected, switch back to 12v for the fridge, empty chemical toilet (only used in 'emergencies'), empty waste water, fill up fresh water, check windows closed, all cupboards locked, and off! The first corner you turn you discover how well everything is stowed, or not!
As we wanted to arrive in Salzburg quite early, we stopped in a layby on the motorway for lunch, it was really pleasant

We are staying in a hotel in Salzburg as we are at the meeting there so we thought it was a luxury to have a bit of space to get ready.
They are letting us park our scruffy RV right outside which we think lowers the tone of the hotel!

Turns out our 'family' room is actually an apartment with two bedrooms so that is even better

The meeting is at 6pm and is a half hour walk away. We decided to taxi there and walk back as it was still hot and we didn't want to arrive sweating
The hall is used only by foreign congregations here, they currently have an English and a Slovak congregation.
The English congregation have only one native speaker here, a brother from America, and 24 publishers. They are used as a 'catch-all' for any foreign language speakers, so sometimes have talks in gujarati or hindi. Good for us it was English today, a German brother and his family had driven from Munich to give the talk. When you see the efforts some of our brothers make to support the congregation they are assigned to you appreciate the import of not complaining about small changes in our own spiritual routine.
The singing was fantastic, and I couldn't help thinking it sounded like the Sound of Music (hence the post title). The speakers song was the miracle of life and this sounded like it could have been in the movie!

I made a terrible faux pas in this hall, one of the lovely brothers here, Peter, is a little person and in all innocence, asking about the size of the congregation, I said "so how big are you? Um, the congregation I mean" D'oh!
Our plan had been to walk back to the hotel, finding a lovely little restaurant for tea. Unfortunately it was Sunday and the road we walked back on was like a country road with no buildings. So tired and hungry we arrived back at the hotel and discovered they had a lovely restaurant with seats outside at the back. Clare said it was her best meal so far.

So nice to taste the worldwide brotherhood and great for the kids too. Enjoy the rest of your trip
